2pm: Join Shoshana Resnikoff, the Center's Collections Fellow, for a Curator’s Talk about the exhibition Cranbrook Goes to the Movies: Films and Their Objects, 1925-1975.


Sunday, July 13

Noon and 2pm: Meet at Cranbrook Art Museum and be shuttled to the local Frank Lloyd Wright-Designed Smith House. Enjoy this rare opportunity to tour the home Wright called “my little gem.” $30. Reservations can be made by contacting Kim Larsen at 248.645.3319.

2pm: Join Laura Mott, Curator of Contemporary Art and Design, for a Curator’s Talk about Warhol on Vinyl: The Record Covers, 1949-1987+.

: In the Vault: Cranbrook at Mid-Century. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum’s vaults – and get up close and personal with exemplary pieces of mid-century art and design.

2pm: Join Shelley Selim, Cranbrook Art Museum’s 2013-2015 Jeanne and Ralph Graham Collections Fellow, for a Curator’s Talk about Culture Breakers: The Living Structures of Ken Isaacs.

2-4pm: Drop-In Art Sunday. Ken-struction! Explore the Living Structures of Ken Isaacs. Go inside these life-size structures to experience the spaces Ken created. Join us at the Drop-In Art Table to make a model of your own design.

3pm: In the Vault: Cranbrook at Mid-Century. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum’s vaults – and get up close and personal with exemplary pieces of mid-century art and design.

2pm: Join Gregory Wittkopp, Director of Cranbrook Art Museum and the Cranbrook Center for Collections and Research, for a Curator’s Talk about Paul Evans: Crossing Boundaries and Crafting Modernism.

3pm: In the Vault: Cranbrook at Mid-Century. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum’s vaults – and get up close and personal with exemplary pieces of mid-century art and design.

Sunday, August 17

2-4pm: Drop-In Art Sunday. Texture-iffic! Search the galleries for texture in Paul Evans’s furniture. Create a geometric design based on Evans’s patterns – then, using found materials, create rubbings to simulate the textures you found in Paul Evans’s work to infill your geometric design.

3pm: In the Vault: Cranbrook at Mid-Century. Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum’s vaults – and get up close and personal with exemplary pieces of mid-century art and design.

Saarinen House


Tours of Saarinen House are available at 2pm every Thursday – Saturday and 1pm and 3pm on Sunday, from May through October. Tours are limited to 12 guests. ArtMembers free; $10 Adults; $8 Seniors (65+); and $6 children and full-time students with ID. Includes admission to Cranbrook Art Museum. Please call 248-645-3320 to make a reservation.


Collections Wing
