The Master Plan for the New Studios Project allows for expedited completion of our artistic ideas. This plan includes a renovations package that permits movement and expansion within all departments, through both the Academy and Art Museum. 3 Million will be spent to provide much needed space, code compliance, and equipment improvements in all disciplines. With ceramics, fiber, and metalsmithing moving to their new spaces within the next two years, This will open space for printmaking and photography and provide opportunity to expand our physical spaces and digital technologies.

Renovations and upgrades have already started in printmaking, painting, photography, and sculpture. A new ventilation system in printmaking improved the chemical exhaust removal and overall air quality. This year, sculpture is already using a state-of-the-art spray booth, equal to systems used in the automotive industry. Painting also received new spray booths and new darkrooms were built for the photography department. In the sprit of Cranbrook, these facilities located within individual departments are available to students across all disciplines often through an official elective or independent project arrangement.

In addition, the Art Museum's administrative offices and collections storage area were
renovated during the summer in preparation for the start of the new building.

Please do not hesitate to contact someone regarding the New Studios Project as a whole. We welcome all inquiries into the project!
