Learn about Cranbrook’s celebrated historic and contemporary architecture and unique sculpture on this outdoor walking tour. The tour begins at Cranbrook Art Museum and winds through the public and private spaces of the campus. Depending on the time you have available and your interest, the tour can feature the "Myths and Legends" of Carl Milles’ sculpture and fountains, emphasize Cranbrook’s Architectural legacy and new additions found throughout West and East Campus or combine both. Architecture tours can include the Academy of Art and Art Museum exteriors; the Cranbrook campus quad and dining hall originally designed as part of Cranbrook School for boys; Eliel Saarinen’s Kingswood campus; Cranbrook’s "arrival feature" by Finnish architect Juhani Pallasmaa; the Tod Williams and Billie Tsien Natatorium; the Steven Holl addition to the Institute of Science; Rafael Moneo’s New Studios Building and more!

Hours:

The length of the tour varies from 1 to 5 hours.
Tours can be scheduled Wednesday – Sunday between 11 am – 5 pm and Fourth Fridays from 11 am – 8 pm.

Charges vary based upon length and complexity of tour. Call for pricing.

Notes:


Credit cards are not accepted. Ability to negotiate stairs and inclines necessary. Tours over 90 min. require at least a 3 week reservation. Call 248.645.3361 to reserve a group tour for 6 or more people!
